ABOUT YOURSELF

  1. Who are you?
    Lukas RS.

  2. Where are you from?
    Poland.

  3. How old are you?
    38.

  4. What do you study or do for a living?
    Civil engineering.

  5. What hobbies do you have?
    LEGO, F1, music.

  6. Do you have a personal LEGO portfolio website that you can share with us?
    Yes, my Rebrickable page: https://rebrickable.com/users/Lukas2020/mocs/

  7. Have you created any LEGO MOCs (my own creations) that you’re particularly proud of? What is it, why are you proud of it and do you have a photo of it?
Yes, I am pretty much happy with all my MOCs published at Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/users/Lukas2020/mocs/

  8. How and when did your interest in LEGO products come about?
I played with LEGO when I was a child, then I had my dark ages and came back in 2019.

  9. What is the LEGO hobby to you? What does it mean to you? How does it fit in your life? E.g. build, display, meetups, play the games or 'just' watch the cartoons.
I really enjoy making my own creations. It keeps my stress away, and I can enjoy myself time spent building.

  10. What is your favourite LEGO theme (current or past)? Why? And has any theme inspired your building style or preference in any particular way?
    My favourite theme is Technic.

  11. What is your favourite official LEGO set ever? Why?
That’s a hard one. A sentimental set is Black Seas Barracuda 6285 I got it when I was 6 years old. It was my first set and it's still with me. A more recent one is the Ferrari F1 1:8 scale model 8674.

  12. Is there a LEGO designer (official LEGO designer or fan designer) who you are inspired by and look up to? Who and why?
    Uwe Webra.

  13. Is there one or more particular LEGO-related websites (not official LEGO websites) that you visit often and/or are inspired by?
    https://rebrickable.com/home/

ABOUT YOUR PROJECT

  1. Where did your interest in this particular model come from?
I have been a huge F1 fan since I was 10 so it was a very obvious choice for me to design that model.

  2. How long was the process of making the project, and what did you have to research as well? What kind of prep, research and design phases did you go through to produce your creation?
It took around 2-3 months to have the whole model ready. I had to print blueprints on the proper scale first. Then I just started and tried to be as close to the real car proportion as possible. I also wanted to keep as many functions as possible for the model taken from the real car.

  3. What special challenges did you face creating the model? What was the most difficult part to recreate?
To be honest, the whole model was a challenge of its own because it was my first ever MOC designed almost purely in system bricks. I have been designing, up to this point, only with Technic.

  4. If you could talk to yourself before you started on this project, what would you tell them? What do you know now that you wish you knew then?
Nothing really. I am happy with the final result of the model. I wouldn’t change anything.

  5. How long did it take to complete the model? Did you finish it fairly quickly, or did it take a long time? And how did the build time compare to the time you spent promoting your Product Idea to reach 10,000 supporters?
It took around 2-3 months to have the whole model ready, and it took 7 months to gain 10k votes.

  6. How did it feel when you reached the magic 10,000 votes and how long did it take?
Of course, I was very happy.

  7. Approximately how many LEGO bricks did you use to create your model?
    1237 parts.

  8. What is your favourite building technique or part/section that you’ve incorporated into your Product Idea?
I like all the functions, like the working steering, removable headrest, engine cover, and front wing. I also like the seats and seat belts.

  9. If you built your model digitally, what software did you use to build and render your model?
    Stud.io

  10. If you used custom stickers or prints for your design, how did you create them or where did you get them?
    I designed them in Photoshop.

ABOUT LEGO IDEAS

  1. Do you have any useful advice about creating a successful LEGO Ideas project?
It has to look as good as possible to appeal to LEGO fans, but it also needs to have some functions or play features.

  2. What (if any) methods did you use to advertise and attract support to your Product Idea?
Facebook fan page and groups, Instagram, YouTube channel, Reddit

  3. What is your favourite LEGO Ideas Product Idea (besides your own of course)? Are there any Product Ideas you think have been overlooked?
Too many to mention. There were plenty of great designs not approved by LEGO, unfortunately

  4. What is it about the platform that attracts you? What tips would you give to anyone who is thinking about uploading an idea?
My dream is to release my own model under the LEGO brand, and LEGO Ideas is probably the only way for everyone to try to reach that dream.

  5. Do you have plans to submit any other Product Ideas in the future? If yes, can you give us a hint what that might be?
Probably yes, but don’t know yet what could that be.
