This is a model of a Pictish chain made of LEGO, it consists of the chain itself and a stand to place it on when it is fully built. I built this because I have an interest in Scotland and its history as my Grandma was born there.

For those that don't know, the real-world Pictish chains were made by the Picts, an early medieval people of Scotland thought to be related to, or descended from Iron Age Celtic tribes. the chains were made of silver rings that were interlinked in pairs and held together by a penannular ring or clasp. they were found in silver hoards with other Pictish artifacts, and were usually incomplete, with the most complete example being the Whitecleuch Chain which is the chain this model is based on.

the chain in this set is made of 46 rings in 23 pairs, each made from four metallic silver macaroni elbows in metallic silver that are connected with three black axles so that they can be easily interlinked and assembled into the chain. the "clasp" is made of eight LEGO macaroni and four Technic axle pin connector bars with two pins holding it together, and two Technic axle connectors.

The stand for the chain is like the bases of the LEGO Infinity Gauntlet sets and the helmet sets, but I tried making it into a necklace stand thing which did not go the way I wanted but it still turned out nice in the end. The top part is made with several Technic panels and some round system pieces.

This would be a great LEGO set as it would encourage people to see the more interesting side of history.
