360 Lego Lounge

This minifig scale rotating restaurant looks awesome as a display piece by itself or integrated into a Lego city. It features a rotating restaurant on top with a functioning elevator for minifig access!

This build has been under construction for about the last year. It’s been designed with maximum ascetic appeal while maintaining functionality and playability. Despite the challenge of building the model’s complex shapes, it is quite sturdy for its size and welcomes play as well as display.

Design: The building design incorporates parabolic supports on each side with the top being slightly larger than the base, to create a forced perspective of grandeur. Flex tubing is used, in part, create smooth curves, from otherwise square bricks. The build stands at 33 inches tall (84 cm) and is built on a standard 32 x 32 stud baseplate. This model was built in the real world and contains approximately 3500 pieces.

Functionality: Currently the building is using two Powered Up motors and a controller hub, which makes the building’s movements easily customizable. The top can rotate independently while the elevator can move to each level, pausing for minifigs to get in and out.  As a potential cost saving alternative, a simple gearing system with manual controls could substituted.

Playability: Create your own stories as minifigures explore this amazing tower! The base roof modules around the elevator are removable as well as the large roof on the top. The restaurant features an observation deck, bar, tables, couches and even a bathroom with the most breathtaking views of the city (dubbed “Loo with a View!”)
