This is a model of the ancient wreckage of a long lost ship being explored by a modern day diver. This ship, once a great vessel of sea exploration, now sits settled on the sandy sea floor weathered away by time. However the shipwreck is now also home to a beautiful marine ecosystem of coral reef, fish and even sharks!
I initially built this model because the idea of seeing a weathered lego ship rather than a pristine one intrigued me. It then shifted into an opportunity to showcase the beauty of nature as well as how it reclaims and reuses what we leave behind, turning it into something wholly different and in its own way infinitely more beautiful than what we had intended it to be.
I believe this would make a great set because people of all ages love shipwrecks! They are full of wonder, mystery, and forgotten history and people can't help but be drawn to them. The inclusion of nature elements interacting with the ship exposes people to the beauty of nature as well. This set will encourage children and adults alike to have an interest in history, exploration, and nature! Its small size means that it could be easily accessible to new lego fans as a budget friendly display piece for older builders to display on a desk or shelf while the inclusion of the diver and sharks provides play opportunities for younger builders! LEGO has made many ships over the years of all shapes and sizes, but never one like this, and I would really love to see it become a reality!
