Volvo Excavadrone
Press release, October 2081
Volvo introduces a new generation of flying machines!
The Excavadrone is powered by a full electric motor, and a mobile solar panel to recharge its internal batteries.
The operator cab is placed at a safety distance. 4 multi directional cameras/scanners provide a full 3d vision of the work area, and send the images to the cab. The operator is in a virtual reality which is a projection of the reality, so he has a full control of the machine in a safe place.
The tracked-wheels combine the advantages of track and wheels. The independent suspensions provide stability and act as a counterweight.
The Excavadrone is able to fly to reach the work area. During the flying mode, the 4 wheels turn 90° and the propellers lift the machine. The operator cab is connected to the machine in this stage, so the operator himself is transferred to the work area.
In specific conditions, for example in the presence of high slopes or rough terrain, the Excavadrone can dig in flying mode.
