Dear LEGO Ideas members,
We are currently investigating and fixing a bug in our login system that has caused some member’s accounts to be deleted over the last 3 weeks. In some cases these accounts have had active product ideas and contest entries linked to them, which is why you may have noticed some submissions disappear recently.
We would like to apologize for the frustration this has caused affected members.
Over the last few days, our developers have worked diligently to understand the extent and severity of the bug. The bug in our systems itself has been addressed, and we are now working restore accounts affected. We would like to assure all members that this was not an external threat and at no time has any user data privacy or security been at risk. This was an internal bug that affected the login system, specifically members who used Facebook or Google to sign up for a LEGO Ideas account since September 2018.
We will reach out to affected members as soon as possible when we have more information to share.
Members who have had active product idea submissions will receive additional days for their submissions to compensate for the effects of this bug. Contest entries of the Design a Virtual Floor for the LEGO Tower Game contest were not affected by the bug as judges had already made their selections by the time accounts were deleted by the bug. A single entry into the Star Wars: The Greatest Battles Built by You was affected, and as a result we have decided to postpone the results of this contest in order to ensure the inclusion of the entry into the judging phase.
Questions can be directed to us via the comments or via support.ideas@lego.com.
Once again, we apologize for the frustration this has caused those affected. We are working to remedy the situation as soon as possible.
To members who are reading this and HAVE been affected by this bug, we kindly request that you do not create a new account, as this may cause conflicts when restoring your old account.
Kind regards,
LEGO Ideas Team
