Immerse yourself in nature with LEGO® Ideas The Botanical Garden (21353)

“Every city needs a space where residents can relax, take a break from busy daily life surrounded by nature” says Valentina Bima, LEGO® Ideas Creator. But where can you find such a place? The Botanical Garden (21353), of course!

Seeds of inspiration

When the LEGO® Ideas Design Team announced fan designer, Valentina Bima’s (known as Goannas89) creation would be blossoming into the real thing, there was an air of excitement, not only for the fan designer, but the community, too!

Valentina wanted to create “something where nature was the protagonist.” Having “always liked botanical gardens” she was inspired by various cast-iron greenhouses built between the mid-nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. A vision that has now been transformed into an actual set for fans from all walks of life to delight in.

Nature’s (and your) new home

Ahh, to feel at one with nature…

With a whole garden of over 35 botanical species from all over the world, Valentina wanted to create somewhere where fans and Minifigures can learn something new about botanical species – a place for all to explore and enjoy.

Here, you’ll be greeted with the warmth of tropical climates, with plants like the exotic Date Palm and trees from the depths of Asia, such as Bamboo and the rich colors of the Japanese Maple Tree. Luscious succulent plants and vibrant flowers, like the unique Tulip Ice Cream  pink, white, and far too good to eat – are waiting to be discovered.

Not only is there lots of foliage to gaze at, but a few animals make an appearance too… What can we say? Nature’s full of surprises, and so is this set! Let’s learn more about it..

Grandeur glasshouse

Beautiful inside and out, the building’s structure is inspired by the fan designer’s passion for architecture and botanical gardens. With three removeable roofs, trees and walls, the detailed interior can be accessed from so many different angles.

The main atrium houses the reception desk, where LEGO® architect and now, Minifigure manager, Valentina, stars in her very own creation (pretty cool, right?). The main gardens feature two exotic trees, while striking cacti and flourishing flowers fill the space. And what would a botanical garden be without its own café? Housed on the ground floor, Minifigure guests are invited to wander onto the outdoor patio to take a seat. Time for tea methinks…

Climbing the spiral staircase, you’ll reveal an upper observation deck so guests can get a closer peek at the foliage. Outside, there’s even more tropical, colorful flowers and plants to explore. One thing’s for sure: there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to this impressive, immersive botanical build.
