From vintage typewriters to ships in bottles, some objects are so iconic they’ve become timeless. Over the years we have seen some incredible LEGO Ideas models hold the ‘timeless’ design status, just think typewriter, globe and Polaroid camera to name a few. Now, we want you to explore the world of iconic designs and objects and give them that brick-built LEGO twist. And guess what? The winning product idea will be turned into a real LEGO Ideas set!
It could be something vintage, or maybe you have a more modern icon in mind, it’s completely up to you what you build, but here’s a little inspiration to get you started.
Endless possibilities
Choosing an object is all about your interpretation of what designs and objects you feel stand the test of time. What would make an instantly recognizable display piece, maybe something you feel everyone should have in their home. This challenge is practically limitless! It allows you to share your vision of what will make an iconic model. Maybe it's an old-school phone or even digital music player? The list is endless, just take a look around and build what resonates with you.
Display-worthy
Like a beautifully crafted grandfather clock or an intricate globe, some objects are meant to be admired as much as they’re used. In this challenge, the more aesthetically pleasing, the better.
Here are a few things to consider for your build:
- Will you still want to display your creation in ten years? We’re celebrating ageless objects that never go out of style.
- Think about your display space – does your design fit just right, or is it too big or small?
- Use LEGO bricks with special finishes or unexpected elements for extra wow factor.
Prizes
The Grand Prize Winner for the Fan Vote will see their build turned into a LEGO set. They'll also receive credit and compensation as described in the Product Ideas Guidelines and Terms of Service. This means they will receive:
- 1% of the total net sales of the product
- 10 complimentary copies of their LEGO Ideas set
- Credit and a bio as the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer in the set materials
Entries that are selected to participate in the Fan Vote, but are not the Fan Vote winner, will receive:
- 21323 - Grand Piano
- 21345 - Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera
- 10334 - Retro Radio
The community votes will help us decide the Grand Prize and Runners-Up winners of the challenge. Please note: All product ideas that reach the Fan Vote phase will be eligible to become an official LEGO Ideas set. The Fan Vote is an important way for the review board to understand fan enthusiasm for specific designs and the overall challenge theme. While a high number of votes is a strong signal of interest, it is not the sole deciding factor. The LEGO Ideas review board will have the final decision on which product idea becomes an official LEGO Ideas set.
