On the 31st of January, we were excited to be able to host our traditional set launch signing event. This time the honours fell on Christoph Ruge, the fan designers behind the International Space Station, with the event being held at his local LEGO shop in Nuremberg, Germany, where hundreds of space and LEGO enthusiasts flocked to meet him and of course to get his signature on their brand new LEGO sets!
Although the signing event was first planned to start at 5PM, queues had already begun to form, filling up the entire LEGO store, so a decision was made to start a full 45 minutes early. And it's a good thing we started early, as the last fans left the shop 15 minutes after the event was supposed to officially end.
Despite the long queues, our fans were in good spirits and to keep everyone in the mood the store staff had organised a number of activities for everyone who was queued. These ranged from mini-building activities to a puzzle and a live build of the set.
It was no doubt a great day out for Christoph, who not only got to meet all his fans, but had also been invited to display some of his other LEGO creations in the store display space during the event. You can see photos of his other builds at the bottom of the gallery.
On behalf of the LEGO Ideas team, we'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who turned up and made Christoph's day one to remember!
For everyone who didn't get a chance to take part in the event, we're giving away a signed set. Scroll to the bottom of this blog post for more details.
