The Entrance of the Nest

I have always loved insects but especially ants which fascinate me.

I have been raising them for over 10 years now in plexiglass nests or vivariums designed for them.

Whether it is their social interactions, the organization of their society/colony, their means of communicating via pheromones, their ability to adapt to almost all biotopes, some ants even cultivate a specific mushroom to feed their larvae. For all this, ants are truly fascinating.

That is why I came up with this project to make a small Lego diorama based on ants.

The entrance to the nest:

this set represents one of the entrances to a colony with a worker ant who after foraging for food, returns to the nest and interacts via its antennae with the ant guarding the entrance to the nest.

This is one of the ways they communicate.

This ant model is fully articulated (the stomach, antennae, legs, head and even the mandibles) which allows to create scenes on their interactions.

This set is composed of 693 lego pieces. And one full ant is 186 pieces.

This set would be a must have for all ant enthusiasts (this hobby of raising ants has been constantly increasing for several years and is reaching more and more people) and also why not to raise awareness among people who do not understand the importance of ants in ecosystems.

Ants are crucial on our planet.

The number of Lego sets based on insects is not very important and that's why I think that bringing more sets related to insects (which unfortunately decrease in population every year in the world) would be really interesting.

P.s: By the time i finished my set and proposed it, i saw that someone already proposed a ant's nest with red ants (a set made by BriBricks) so if like me, you love ants and want to see a lego ant set, don't be shy and go see his set : more set = more chance to see ants in Lego !!!
