Countryside Cottage & Tea Rooms

This quaint, converted farmhouse, with its conservatory and barn, has been greatly inspired by the house I grew up in, in the UK. From the wooden porch on the front of the house, to the tangled grape vine in the conservatory, everything has that touch of nostaglia that makes this building special and unique!

This has been a summer project from over the past two weeks as I enjoy a break from my current education, and it has been a lifelong ambition of mine to create a real, authentic and interesting LEGO set that I didn't think had been seen before. This is the first time I have attempted such a feat. I used Bricklink Studio 2.0 to design and render this set, as well as PartDesigner for some additional prints such as the unique 'Tea Rooms' sign.

There is ample space within the Tea Rooms for multiple minifigures, such as the Granny and Grandson minifigures, to enjoy a cuppa with a tasty snack. Respite may also be found for the determined Hiker, who seems to be interested in the 'Room to let' sign. Perhaps he wishes to take a break at this rural abode, to spend some time discovering new footpaths to venture on! You are sure to be greeted by the friendly Barista, ready to serve you a coffee from the fancy red coffee machine. The kitchen is busy with pans on the stove, and the oven opens to reveal a tray of cookies, freshly baked! The homely dining room provides a pleasant place to sip your tea in the peace and quiet of the countryside, and read up on the latest LEGO news. A large living room features a comfortable sofa, with a reading lamp for the residents to read novels in their spare time. These may be found under the staircase, or in the attic up two flights of stairs! Also an upright piano sits in the corner, waiting to be played. The cosy room is kept warm in the winter months by a small woodburner, stocked with a small log-pile to be ready. If you keep an eye out of the window, you may see the local Postman cycle past on his bright red bike, perhaps with a letter to deliver. Up the sideways-built stairs comes the landing, leading to two bedrooms (one advertised as 'to let') and a bathroom. I have never seen a LEGO set include a bath upstairs, so I decided to be the first! The second stairway leads to the attic, where a cosy library is located. The resident Author sits in his comfortable armchair, typing up a new article on his green vintage typewriter, while listening to jazz records on the grammophone. The roof consists of two sheets that rest on the black panels in the four corners of the attic. These two panels interlock for better security, and on the back features an ivy vine that sprawls down to the bottom of the house.

This set could never have been produced without the help of my wonderful girlfriend, who provided brilliant artwork for two custom minifigures, the Hiker and the Postman. My art skills could never have achieved such professional results, so thank you, Martha! She also provided colour-scheming advice, as well as several miniature builds that feature in the set.
