Hardwick Hall was built for Bess of Hardwick between 1590 and 1597 in Derbyshire England. Hardwick is a large country house designed in the renaissance style by Robert Smythson. Hardwick is owned by the National Trust and I thought it could be one of an interesting series of builds relating to the National Trust in the UK. I know there is already a link between LEGO and the National Trust and this might move this to be inclusive of adult LEGO fans. I live close to Hardwick Hall and visited a lot as a child with parents. I became interested in building Hardwick Hall when I came across the reference ‘Hardwick Hall more glass than wall’. Only then did I realise just how much glass there is, and I thought it would be an interesting challenge to incorporate such a lot of glass into a LEGO structure whilst maintaining the correct scale. I would hope this and other similar National Trust models would attract more people to this interesting and important organisation.
