The world of the Little Prince has been with me from an early age.
I grew up in Toulouse, a city in the south of France marked by the passage of aviation pioneers such as Clément Ader, MERMOZ, Henri Guillaume, and notably Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. They all played their part in the rise of aviation and the international renown of this region (Aeronautics).
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry began his career as an airmail pilot in our beautiful region of Toulouse. This enabled him to travel to many countries and draw inspiration for his writings.
So I wanted to pay tribute both to the work of the Little Prince and to the writer and adventurer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
De Saint-Exupéry plays with the boundary between fantasy and reality, reminding us to see the world through the eyes of a child, because ‘all great people were children first. (But few of them remember.)" The Little Prince.
In this set, I wanted to represent a section illustrating the life of Saint-Exupéry's adventurer, combined with the imaginary world of The Little Prince, each universe forming a coherent whole of reverie and poetry.
The first part is made up of two short scenes depicting De Saint-Exupéry: the adventurous aviator, and the author comfortably seated in his office, writing.
The aeroplane (piloted by de Saint-Exupéry, a ‘Sopwith’) is the link between de Saint-Exupéry's real world and his work, and it is with it that we set off to meet The Little Prince.
On the other side we discover the meteor B 612: two active volcanoes and one extinct volcano (but ‘you never know’ according to the Little Prince), the Little Prince and his friend the fox.
I hope that these characters will accompany the dreams and nights of many children. So this set could be fitted with a light system in its base, transforming it into a dreamy nightlight.
This set contains approximately 1,470 pieces.
