How I Met Your Mother MacLaren's Pub

Hello to all fans of the series, if you are reading this message, first of all, thank you for coming to snoop around my project.
I had been waiting for a long time for the possibility of creating a set based on “How I met your mother” given the presence of other sets based on TV series released in recent years. In truth, I had already created one 3 years ago, but only after finishing it I did realize that I couldn’t upload it. In the end, it was a good thing because reopening it after such a long time I thought “but what is this? We’re not there yet!” So I rolled up my sleeves and basically redid everything from scratch. I am much more satisfied with the result achieved at the end of this new project. I hope that the level I reach can be appreciated by you too. Now without further ado I am going to actually present the set and what it contains. Happy reading.
I have chosen to represent the most iconic place in the series, where most of the scenes take place, namely “MacLaren’s Pub”. This is the meeting place of the 5 main protagonists of the series, as well as characters that I promptly inserted into the set. Specifically, I tried to make them with clothing as similar as possible to that worn in their first appearance in the series. Along with this, I gave each of them a very representative object:
- Ted Mosby: He is holding the pineapple that he still doesn't know where it came from;
- Barney Stinson: He has a rubber duck like the ones represented in his tie;
- Robin Sherbatsky: She has the blue horn stolen by Ted for her;
- Marshall Eriksen: With the wedding ring with which he asks Lily to marry him;
- Lily Aldrin: With the blackboard on which she represented the cockamouse that she saw.
Along with them, I inserted 3 other characters who are important in the series. For one of them in particular, using the term important is actually almost a euphemism:
- Tracy McConnell: Or rather the girl with the yellow umbrella, or rather the woman who will become Ted's wife, as well as the mother of his childres;
- Ranjit: The trusted taxi driver;
- Carl MacLaren: The pub's barman, as well as the probable owner.
For the creation of the pub I tried to remain as faithful as possible to what is seen in the series.
It was not easy at all, especially for the two walls that are on the sides of the corner couch. To make them as best as possible I created 3 panels of new dimensions, not present in the Lego catalog:
- An 8x6 panel to cover the short side;
- A 4x6 panel to cover the first half of the long side;
- A 12x6 panel to cover the second half of the long side
Above these three panels I applied the prints of the drawings actually present in the series. To do this at best, I looked for the frames in which they were framed more clearly, I cut them out, rotated them and focused them. These, together with the golden “MacLaren’s Pub” sign sticker, are the elements I am most proud of, as they give character and immediate recognisability to the set.
To create the furniture, the walls and the parquet I kept 3 different shades of brown so that the set did not appear too monotonous and flat, but so that the various elements could be clearly distinguished.
Inside the pub it is therefore possible to find:
- 8 couches, arranged in pairs facing each other;
- 1 semicircular corner couch;
- 11 chairs for the round tables;
- 3 round tables;
- 4 square tables;
- 1 elliptical table;
- 6 chairs for the bar counter;
- 1 corner bar counter;
- 1 dartboard;
- 1 phone book holder at the entrance;
- 1 wall phone;
- 1 phone behind the counter;
- 13 paintings and more that decorate the walls;
- 1 wall TV;
- 1 fishing trophy;
- 1 jukebox;
- On the tables there are various foods and drinks to make the pub come alive. There are also its typical green handkerchiefs used as coasters.
In summary, the project consists of a total of 2082 pieces and 8 minifigures.
In short, inside the set there is plenty of space for your minifigures, to make it lively, fun and chaotic as it should be.
