Barns are one of my favorite buildings to look at on road trips. There is so much history that can be scene in and around a barn that is either well, or unfortunately, not well maintained. When I take road trips my wife will playfully laugh at me as we drive through the countryside and I call out "Wow, that's a nice looking barn". In my opinion, barns look the best when they're surrounded in snow and they embody the feeling of coziness and family.
For as long as I could remember I've wanted a Lego barn set - since I was at least 5 years old playing with my barn toy. Over the many years, none have peaked my interested so I thought, "hey, why don't I build one my self"!
I couldn't make just a square barn on a square plate though and I wanted to build it off stud if possible, and of course it needed to be surrounded by snow! So after much trial and error, I present the Winter Family Barn!
What this build features:
- A family (based on my actual family)
- A horse and cow... and a pesky little mouse trying to steal a meal.
- An off stud cut-away barn build that features 2 stalls with windows and doors, a loft to store hay, a tool shop and tack area, a wall of all the animal care items you could need, and of course many awards from Equestrian Eventing!
- An old timey water spigot
- A windmill to pump the water and power electricity - you have to be sustainable out on the farm!
- A wind vane featuring a golden cockerel
- And last but not least, family memories on the farm!
If you've made it this far, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my project idea!
