A note of gratitude
With only 2 days to go I would like to thank everyone of you who supported and took time to comment on this project. I had hoped she would have reached the 1000 supporters milestone and gotten some more time, but at least she fared a little better the 2nd time around:) For now she's found a nice home in my 5 year old son's room, impatiently waiting to steam up for new adventures.
A size comparison
Here's the latest from my Flickr-account. The red line at the base of the hull that I mentioned in my last update (but due to the nature of the pictures was a bit blurred) is clearly visible here.
Lights glowing from inside
1st of December coming up. So here is the model fitted with the Christmas tree light chain inside.
This is how the Titanic might have looked anchored off Cherbourg on the evening of April 10, 1912. I've replaced the slideshoes with a full red line at the base of the hull which appears just right when the model is on display; whereas the slideshoes are extremely functional if you want to play with it and push it around on the floor.
Improving the configuration of the bow
I know many of you would probably prefer a more streamlined design of the hull and this has been on my mind since I decided to re-upload this model. I've been thinking of both 'inverted slopes' and 'bricks with a bow', but for now I've improved the design of the bow by slightly changing the configuration of the first 3 notches (counted from midship). It's very subtle, but it's better! - and anyway this model is so big that it almost justifies this way of building curves.
Coming up soon: some pictures taken at dusk with ligths glowing from inside:-)
