How it all came together:
For a while, I have been contemplating building a LEGO project that includes all six of the Fallen Flag commemorative SD70ACe diesel locomotives, Heritage Units, from the Union Pacific Railroad in a miniature scale. This way, if it ever became a set, it would be much more affordable than minifigure-scale LEGO diesel locomotives. As I started to piece together the first SD70ACe locomotive, I realized that the locomotive would be too intricate in build to make way for the unique paint-schemes portrayed on the real-life Heritage Units. And so, I settled on building only one Union Pacific SD70ACe, along with a UP boxcar and caboose to compliment it. In the end, I am satisfied with the result of this project, and I hope you are as well! (Whew, that was lengthy...as always!)
Project description:
This project is 602 pieces. It includes almost to-scale LEGO versions of an SD70ACe locomotive, 50' 7" cu-ft boxcar, and an extended-vision caboose. The locomotive and its wagons have flexible ball-joint connectors, as well as very maneuverable bogies for very tight track curves.
In total, this project has ten varieties of printed pieces. Each print took a lot of work to take images and crop them to make the project look presentable. Please, and I do mean please, tell me what you think of the prints, as well as if there is anything that should be added or edited.
Conclusion:
Thank you all so much for viewing this project! Have a great day, everyone, and take care. Submitted by Joseph cheeseinthepie on August 24th, 2020.
