Hello everyone,
We are excited to present you our first LEGO project, inspired by the beautiful City of Bellinzona. Located in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, Bellinzona is famous for being the only fortress city in Europe. And it is precisely the FORTRESS that stands out as the main character of this construction.
Our model, composed of 2.000 pieces, represents the three castles and the wall that make up the fortress along with a small part of its historic village. The dimensions are:
• Width: 20,8 cm (26 stud LEGO)
• Length: 43,2 cm (54 stud LEGO)
• Height: 11,2 cm (14 stud LEGO)
The construction, although small in size, captures the beauty of our UNESCO World Heritage site, including several iconic elements. Resulting from an in-depth historical and architectural study, the project reproduces – even if not perfectly to scale – the three castles and the wall connecting them, along with the vegetation and the rock on which they stand. We have tried to faithfully maintain all the fundamental features, while adapting some details to the constraints given by the size and the pieces format.
The model includes the castles of:
- Castel Grande, located at the bottom, accompanied by a representation of the medieval historic town of Bellinzona, with its characteristic wall and fountain.
- Montebello, immersed in vegetation, known for its inner bastion.
- Sasso Corbaro, the smallest and highest of the three.
We hope you like our project and that it brings the atmosphere of the Middle Ages to life!
