This is Tarzan's Family Treehouse.
The treehouse that Tarzan's parents built, when arriving to the African jungle by accident. High in the tree on a deserted small island, away from dangerous animals, or so they thought. This isn't just any scene from Disney's Tarzan (1999), but where it all started. His parents were tragically killed by the vicious leopard "Sabor" and his new Gorilla mother "Kala" rescues the infant Tarzan from the dangerous animal. It's a scene full of love and drama, where it all began.
Disney's Tarzan is one of my all-time favourite Disney movies and animated films in general. The thrilling adventure of Tarzan, "The son of Man", is a fantastic story of an infant child, that grew up in the African jungle among gorillas, and alongside all kinds of dangerous animals, but learns to adapt and also be a superior creature in the jungle. His journey is a great reminder that, humans are very capable of adapting every situation and obstacle we face, no matter what. It is time for a Tarzan LEGO set, and since there hasn't been made any in the past, I thought to myself, what better Tarzan set was there really to make, than the treehouse. So many iconic moments were made here and that's why I made this set.
The original story of Tarzan (of the Apes) was written by an author name Edgar Rice Burroughs back in 1912, and the Disney story is an adaptation of this original novel series. As a movie lover, I like every behind the scenes stuff and a fun fact about the Disney adaptation is, that they took a lot of inspiration for Tarzans movements in the trees, from skateboarding, which I find very interesting.
I tried to make it as close to the original design as possible, and the treehouse is iconic in its shape. The treehouse sits on top of a massive treetrunk and looks magnificent in between all the vines and branches. You are able to remove the roofs of the treehouse and get into the build, to take a closer look on all the details found within. This build is packed with big and small references to the movie. Inside the beautiful treehouse, you can find the mess all over the floor, from the fight between Sabor and Tarzan's parents. There's a rifle on the floor near the door and there's even a picture frame of Tarzan as baby with his parents as well. There's also a bed for baby Tarzan to lay in, where Kala also finds him crying his heart out. Outside you can find all the platforms leading up to the treehouse, where the fight between Sabor and Kala also finds place and baby Tarzan even rolls down the ropes, away from the dangerous leopard. The white life boat, as both the parents uses to sail to shore and Kala escapes the treehouse by jumping into, is also hanging from one of the branches of the tree.
There's tons of animals present around the scenery as well. If you look closely, you will find a spider, a snake, a frog, a toucan, a parrot and butterflies scattered all across the set.
Besides all the smaller animals, the set comes with these figures and characters:
- Baby Tarzan
- Adult rope swinging Tarzan (with his spear)
- Adult Tarzan in his fathers suit
- Sabor (Leopard)
- Kala (Gorilla mother)
Tarzan wearing his fathers suit, is a reference to the scene later in the movie, where Kala shows Tarzan who he is and where he came from.
This 4298 piece build is standing on top of a 48x48 stud baseplate and stands around 80 bricks tall,
This would make a great LEGO set due to the many amazing details and colors. It's a grand display piece and looks great from every possible angles. I think this idea is the perfect Tarzan LEGO set. And who doesn't like animals?
Thanks for reading thus far and showing interest in my most detailed IDEAS project ever.
See if you can spot all the references to the film.
