Queen Brickheadz
Arguably one of the greatest bands of all time, Queen have had countless hit songs the world over throughout a career lasting over 50 years. They have toured extensively, bringing their own brand of rock music to all corners of the globe and are one of the most recognisable bands in the world, loved by fans of all ages and from all walks of life.
I believe there is no more justification needed to immortalise the mighty Queen via a collaboration with another globally loved brand, Lego.
'Queen Brickheadz' features all four members of the legendary band: Singer, Freddie Mercury, Guitarist, Brian May, Drummer, Roger Taylor and bass player, John Deacon. All four members of the band have contributed greatly to the success of the group with each having written hit songs known in almost every country of the world.
The main design of the set is that of the band during their epic 1986 Magic Tour. John's short shorts, Roger's stripey top, Brian's magnificent hair and Freddie's iconic yellow jacket are all included.
An alternate outfit is also included for Freddie. This is a tribute to Queen's era defining appearance at 1985's Live Aid concert, cementing their place as one of the greatest live acts in the world. Freddie, wearing a simple white vest and stonewashed jeans proved that even without the glitz and glam of elaborate outfits, he had the audience in the palm of his hand and was the greatest frontman the world had ever seen.
Designed in the popular Brickheadz style, each member of the band is appx. 9cm (3.5") tall and consists of roughly 150 Lego pieces each, giving a total for the set of approximately 650 pieces (including alternate Freddie outfit and base plates).
Each band member is equipped with the tools of their trade - drumsticks for Roger, a microphone and iconic half-mic-stand for Freddie, a bass guitar for John and Brian's famous self-built 'Red Special' guitar, complete with sixpence plectrum!
This year (2025) sees the 40th anniversary of Live Aid. It also marks the 50th anniversary of Queen's, and arguably, rock music's, greatest hit - Bohemian Rhapsody (released October 1975). Next year (2026) will see the 40th anniversary of Queen's legendary Magic Tour, delivering some of their biggest and best shows, but also their final ever UK shows with Freddie, at Wembley Stadium and Knebworth House.
As a lifelong fan of both Queen and Lego, I can't think of a better way to celebrate Queen's longevity and achievements that by joining forces with Lego to create a set that, just like their multi-million selling Greatest Hits album, is loved in houses the world over.
