Crew of Guan Yu

Hello everyone,

 

The project I present is a re-creation based on the traditional Chinese painting of Dai Dunbang: "关圣帝君伏魔大帝云长公宝象". The three characters from left to right are Guan Ping, Guan Yu and Zhou Cang.

Guan Yu in the center is an iconic General in the three kingdoms period, as well as in entire Chinese history, representing great courage and unique loyalty. Guan Yu is not in a fighting posture with a horse and sword. Instead he is sitting and reading the Spring and Autumn Annals at night.

The man in white suit on the left is Guan Yu's adopted son Guan Ping. Guan Ping is holding the seal of Jingzhou in his hand.

The man with a black face on the right is Guan Yu's No.1 fan Zhou Cang. Zhou Cang is responsible for guarding Guan Yu's 82 catties Jade Dragon Glaive Sword. Guan Ping and Zhou Cang have been guarding and companying Guan Yu until he was defeated in Maicheng.

The statue of the crew of Guan Yu is very common in Guandi Temple, which you can find in lots of place in China. People are fascinating on Guan Yu’s personality and the great romantic between the heroes. That’s why I decide to build this subject matter by using Lego bricks, hope you can get and enjoy it.
