This model is the Forestmen king's castle !
Many years ago, this castle was an outpost for the crusader’s faction. After a defeat against the black falcons, the rest of the army had to flee. This led to the castle being abandoned for centuries...
One day though, a few forestmen had to use this castle to hold against a bunch of black knights.
After the rest of the forestmen arrived and they defeated the lot of black knights, the forestmen adopted this castle as their river fortress. This was depicted in set 6077: forestmen's river fortress.
The castle was so nice though, that the forestmen’s king himself decided to move his residence here.
Since we last saw this castle, a few things changed, mainly the addition of the suspension bridge to cross the river or the King’s living quarters.
The model has two side builds :
- The first one is a rowboat for the forestmen’s messenger. It is a simple build using some barrels.
- The second one is a cart where a few merchants of the Wolfpack faction sell all sorts of items (although knowing them, those items might have been stolen)
This project features a handful of minifigures, some of which are familiar faces, like the forestmen knights, Majisto or the lone crusader knight who got lost in the forest, but some are new, like the forestmen’s king, the official leader of the faction, but he secretly works for robin hood, the blacksmith, the jester or the forestmen general.
In addition to those minifigures, there are a few animals including a frog, a rat, 2 chickens, 4 birds and a dog.
The model has many trees, one of which has a target for target practice on it.
This model has a full interior :
- The basement features the blacksmith's workshop, accessible through a trap door
- The first floor is the shield painter's workspace and the armory
- The second floor is the king's throne hall
- There are a few spaces in between the floors. The first one features a rat, the second one a lamp and the last one the lost sword of the black monarch…
I built this model because I love the forestmen, and I wanted a challenge to build detailed castle walls. It was very fun to imagine and conceive and I’m very proud to show it to you !
Since a few years, Lego started remaking castle armies : the lion knights, black falcons and the forestmen. Of the three factions, two only have their own castle. All the forestmen had was a small forest outpost and a cave in lion knight's castle. Well, no more. Today, thanks to you, the forestmen can have their own castle.
