NASA's Mars Pathfinder

This is a model of the Mars Pathfinder mission. The lander bounced down onto Mars on July 4, 1997 (the Pathfinder mission was the very first Mars mission to employ an airbag landing system). After bouncing about 15 times before rolling to a stop, Pathfinder deployed her petal-like solar array. Pathfinder also carried along a microwave sized rover named Sojourner. Sojourner would rove around the landing site, taking images and conducting scientific measurements. After 87 sols of operation the Pathfinder lander sent her last transmission before falling silent. Because Sojourner communicated with earth through Pathfinder, contact was lost with Sojourner as well.
I built this because Pathfinder is one of my favorite Mars exploration missions. In the build, Sojourner can be attached to the ramp on Pathfinder or can be put near "Yogi" rock. You can also swivel Pathfinder's mast camera system. The build contains a total of 815 pieces. This would make a great set for any Mars or space enthusiast.
