Behind the Front: How Did ‘Steam Road Repairs’ Get to LEGO House?

This model was inspired by my ‘Vintage Transportation: Steam Road Repairs’ entry in the ‘Exhibit your creativity in The LEGO House!’ challenge. As a ‘Winner’, my model was chosen to be exhibited at LEGO House from January 2024 to January 2025 (and is now on exhibition at LEGOLAND Denmark).

Here is the Story of behind the scenes from idea conception to its journey to the LEGO House.

Room 1: ‘Imagineering’ the ‘big idea’ & modelled it on Stud.io (whilst drinking plenty of tea & dunking biscuits!)

Room 2: Creating, building & adapting the model in real bricks & testing its strength & build-ability. Ordered the LEGO pieces required to complete the final model.

Room 3: Deliveries of the ordered pieces – tantalizing!

Room 4: Un-packaging the new pieces & building the final model - awesome!

Room 5: Packaging up the built model ready for despatch, waiting for the collection van (I didn’t know if I was happy or sad!!) & off to the LEGO House …
