First Date...at the Diner?

She agreed to go out on a date with him...but didn't think it would be to a diner. She thought it would be somewhere fancier. What kind of first date was this?

"Sit wherever you'd like," the cook said. They sat by the window. The waitress came to take their order then headed back to the kitchen. She got the drinks ready while the cook prepared the food. The couple began to talk.

While talking, he thought, "She's so pretty. I can't believe she agreed to go out with me." While talking, she thought, "I can tell he's nervous, but he's cute in a geeky sort of way." The waitress brought their food, and they enjoyed a good meal.

After they paid and left, they sat on the bench outside...and she held his hand! His smile got bigger. "It wasn't such a bad first date," she thought. "It's really about who you're with, not where you go."

Plus, they ended up liking the diner. Later, they decided they would revisit it on every anniversary of their first date. They did that for over 50 years!
