Night Surprise at the Cemetery

The full moon hung high, its pale light casting eerie shadows across the forgotten cemetery. Erik and Tobias slipped through the rusted gate, their breaths visible in the cold night air. They weren’t here for prayers or remembrance. No, they had come seeking a long-buried secret—whispers of a noble’s grave, filled with treasures left to time.

Erik, ever the opportunist, wasted no time. He dropped to his knees beside an ancient headstone, brushing away the overgrown moss and loose dirt. "This is the one," he muttered, reaching for his lantern to get a better look. Beside him, Tobias stood tall, gripping his trusty axe. He wasn’t here just to dig—he was here to watch Erik’s back.

A sudden noise made him freeze. It was faint, like the rustling of leaves or the shifting of stones. His grip on the axe tightened. He turned away from Erik, eyes scanning the darkness beyond the tombstones. The gate creaked in the wind. A branch swayed overhead. Somewhere in the distance, an owl hooted.
