Kentoshi-Sen

Kentoshi-sen (遣唐使) ships, which were both stunning and culturally significant to Japan, were used to carry the Imperial Japanese envoys of the 7th century to China during the Tang Dynasty and Nara periods. Japanese scholars, engineers, diplomats, monks, court officials and merchants were all included in the trips to learn about Chinese culture and establish relationships. Sailing during that period was dangerous, but those who returned to Japan from these hazardous journeys brought back new engineering techniques, new architectural styles, and valuable cargo which had a significant influence on Japanese culture

We only know what these ships looked like from historical drawings found in the Toseiden emaki scrolls, although a full version of the ship was recreated in 2010. This model is about 2,000 pieces and contains two structures on the main deck and a full interior inside the hull. There are square 2 sails with ropes and a stern rudder along with historically accurate cargo.
