Retro: Tie-Dye Heart
Travel back to the '60s with this tie-dye heart!
This bright mosaic is built from around 5,500 pieces and is made using every available color of quarter-circle tile from LEGO DOTS. (Including a single dark tan one which is very rare! Can you find it?)
The colorful curved tiles are placed on top of a greyscale mosaic underlayer which gives the heart a far-out 3D effect and seems to almost sparkle. No color tile repeats in a line more than three at a time and they never complete an entire circle, creating a shimmering pattern.
The burst design behind the heart, the rainbow color gradation, and the repeating, mesmerizing tiles would make this one groovy puzzle in my opinion. I think this tie-dye heart would be fun to build as a puzzle and beautiful to display!
I built this extended mosaic to be scaled exactly to 5:4 just like a puzzle. I also took pictures of it on a table to show how it would look as a puzzle. All photos are available in super high resolution and uncropped.
