Rockabilly Ride
Rockabilly Ride
Is a circa 1950's styled car. The cars of this era had very distinctive flashy styling such as large tailfins, lots of chrome, and a flowing design that emulated the look of rockets.
The design
The car has a retracted soft top, long tailfins, and cool hood detail. It has 172 parts including one Minifigure. The driver is a LEGO fan, with an era accurate LEGO logo on his shirt.
Inspiration
Inspiration for this model started with element 98137 Its long and flowing design was ideal to represent the tailfin. Being a key element in the design I did a check to see if it had been used recently in a set. I also limited rendering parts in metallic to those that exist in that color.
While studying Technical Illustration at college in 98, I looked at lots of hyper real Airbrush artwork. The depictions of shiny plastic, metal and chrome surfaces, made the images pop. For these renders I wanted emulate that, while still being true to the LEGO style.
Thanks for taking a look at my model.
