A Black Hole
On a far away world, atop a cliff beside the city on a previously desolate world, the spaceman parks his craft and sets up his telescope. Through it, he looks through the sky at the vast universe, seemingly endless and all-encompassing. He spies a black hole in a nearby system, where the very essence of space time is shifted and time as mankind knows it is changed.
There is a moon in his system that is visible to the naked eye, which is akin to that of Earth. Shooting stars stream by at rapid paces in the distance far beyond the mountain range. The stars grow brighter as the night grows darker, lighting up the sky from countless light years away.
He dreams of exploration, and he imagines expansion. What if there is other life among the stars, beyond this barren wasteland he calls home? What if there are fellow men and women to be discovered among the stars?
