Pirate’s Treasure Hold: Lost & Found
I chose to reimagine LEGO Set 1889, Pirate’s Treasure Hold, because it was my very first LEGO set, which introduced me to the world of LEGO. This challenge is the perfect chance to revisit it with a new perspective. The original set had a very limited piece count, so I had to get creative to expand its mythology.
The skeleton on the island is a nod to the original minifig from the set, now lost to time. The island remains the only witness to his fate, with his treasure left behind, untouched. Over the years, the treasure stayed hidden until a pirate girl and her monkey stumbled upon the island and its secrets, continuing the adventure.
I added plants and flowers growing out of the rocks, giving the scene a more organic and lived-in feel, suggesting the island has a layered past. I also incorporated a subtle nod to the LEGO Islanders theme with a face carved into the rock. This suggests that the island was inhabited long before any pirates ever set foot there.
