Surface Explorer 2025V
My inspiration for this challenge is a childhood favourite, set 6880 which was released in 1982.
To modernise the set I have increased its size and applied a bright new colour scheme. Updated parts have been used and a small landscape included for the figures to interact with.
The original features of 6880 have been retained i.e. the raised platform, the multiple wheel assembly, the grabbing arm, radar dish, twin seating and forward lights.
I have added a small storage area for placing rocks and the wheel assembly allows it to drive over rough terrain with a simple suspension technique allowing each wheel set to freely lift over larger obstacles.
The two figures sit comfortably and they have a selection of tools to help explore craters.
The small crater side build allows extra play with crystals, rocks and plants to collect and return to their base.
This is a brick built model using 215 parts.
