Location: Barrow-Downs, Entrance to the Barrow
Barrow- Downs or Tyrn Gorthad were a region of low hills east of the Shire and the Old Forest. They were famous for their fog. They are known for being the site of ancient burial mounds, which have become the home of sinister spirits and malevolent creatures.
The oldest burial mounds were built in the First Age by the ancestors of the Edain. They served as resting places for the Men of the North, as well as Dúnedain, until evil spirits called Barrow-wights came and began to inhabit their barrows.
Barrow- Downs appear in the first chapters of Fellowship of the Ring and are one of my favorite locations. The four hobbits are trapped by a Barrow-wight, and are lucky to escape with their lives; but they gain ancient swords of Westernesse for their quest.
In addition to their role in the story, the Barrow-downs are also notable for their atmospheric and evocative description. The Lego model depicts the entrance to one of the barrows shrouded in mysterious fog.
I hope you like it. Enjoy!
