Baking Powder Biscuits

The fields of STEM all converge in the Kitchen! Everything in the modern kitchen (including the food we eat) is the result of innovations over time, especially in the last 200 years.

I chose to make Baking Powder Biscuits for this challenge because they were literally “science labs” for me in school five different times between grade 5 and College. It is a great example of a “positive outcome” regarding an acid-base-thermal reaction.
The invention of Baking Powder was a pivotal innovation because it allowed the home cook to have “more consistency” when producing baked goods. Prior to that leaveners were difficult to store and/or often required purchasing the individual ingredients from a chemist. We now have “baking mixes” and “refrigerator breads” as a result of such advancements.

(P.S. I have placed a butter-pat on each biscuit because the first time, we also had to make butter 😊)

Total build: 621 pieces
