Join the Three Investigators on their latest case – The Mystery of the Whispering Mummy! The teenage sleuths - Jupiter Jones, Peter Crenshaw and Bob Andrews - have been asked by Alfred Hitchcock to help his friend and eminent Egyptologist, Professor Yarborough, with a mystery concerning his treasured 3000-year-old Egyptian mummy Ra-Orkon, part of a collection of Egyptian artefacts in his house. The problem is that the mummy has begun whispering strange words in an ancient Egyptian tongue! Is it part of the ancient curse of Ra-Orkon? Can the boys help to solve the mystery and retrieve the mummy from the thieves that steal it?
This set is based on a highly-popular series of books “Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators”, created by Robert Arthur Jr. in 1964. The boys live in Rocky Beach, California, a town on the Pacific Coast a few miles from Hollywood and use their spare time to solve any mysteries that come their way. The boys use different coloured chalk to sign their trademark “?” as a sign for the others or to mark their trail. As Jupiter himself says “The question mark is the universal symbol of something unknown. We are prepared to solve any puzzle, riddle, mystery, enigma or conundrum what may be brought to us”. Indeed, no case is too strange or mysterious for them, including green ghosts, crooked cats, vanishing treasure, stuttering parrots and much more! The boys are aided in their adventures by having the use of a vintage gold-plated Rolls-Royce and chauffeur, Worthington, which Jupiter won the use of in a contest!
The set idea is part of Professor Yarborough's house, including his study and the room where he keeps Ra-Orkon. The outside terrace of the house features a booby-trapped pillar and huge stone ball - turn the handle and tip the ball towards any unsuspecting minifigure! Also included is the garage where the boys are - spoiler alert! - held captive and where they discover the real secret of the mummy case! The model can be set up as a play set or why not as a cool display next to the Three Investigators books on your shelf!
The set includes the characters from the original story - the three teenage detectives themselves, Professor Yarborough and his butler Wilkins, the Professor’s neighbour and fellow historian, Professor Freeman, the two thieves that steal the mummy and a young boy named Hamid, who had travelled far from his home country to retrieve the mummy that he believes is one of his ancestors. Also included is the Three Investigator's famous vintage Rolls-Royce and their chauffeur and friend, Worthington.
