The Hourglass of Personality
Time is something precious, but it is more than that, it changes us. Our personalities are not fixed; they evolve, shaped by our experiences, choices, and the passage of time. To express this idea, I created this hourglass out of LEGO bricks.
This creation is both symbolic and decorative. Made from 367 pieces, it’s not functional as a real hourglass, but it’s designed to be an eye-catching display piece perfect for a shelf, desk, or even a fireplace.
Inside the hourglass, you’ll find two castles that represent different stages or sides of personality.
At the bottom, there is a witch’s castle, surrounded by bat wings and dark elements. This part represents the more hidden, chaotic, or challenging aspects of who we are, things like fear, doubt, or anger.
At the top, there is a king’s castle, guarded by angel wings. This symbolizes growth, wisdom, and the more balanced or positive sides of our personality, the qualities we build over time.
The frame is designed with a dramatic, fantasy-inspired style. Elegant Shaping, golden details, and brown highlights give the top half a graceful, almost heavenly appearance, while the bottom is darker and more intense, with sharp bat-like wings and gothic shapes. Together, these contrasting designs reflect the duality of personality, the balance between light and dark, calm and chaos.
This hourglass is a representation to how time shapes us, its not instantly, but slowly and deeply. Who we are now is not who we were before. And who we become is still being formed.
I hope you enjoy this creation, and that many of you will support my project!
