The Ansaldo S.V.A.5 was a very successful Italian light bomber/reconnaissance aircraft introduced in 1917. The S.V.A.5 featured a particularly unique wing strut arrangement. For all their apparent frailty, these aircraft successfully crossed the Alps to undertake long-range bombing missions against Austro-Hungarian forces. This model is in a standard colour scheme of aluminium engine cowling, wooden fuselage and fabric surfaces. The undersides feature prominent national colours intended to prevent ‘friendly fire’ from ground troops.
