Part update 32 of 40 (Bathroom sink)

And here is the last part before the big ones :)

This top of this part is pretty much improvised since it's only visible at a very shallow angle making it impossible to determine what it all is.

The pink sink is not available, I replaced that with a white frame and a transparent glass :)

Part updates 26 / 40 (Showertiles right), 27 / 40 (Showertiles back) and 28 / 40 (Showertiles left)

Sorry, I missed another update yesterday, I was too exhausted to post anything. But since this is 3 updates in one, I'm still on schedule =)

Things are getting dodgy here, there's no normal way to connect the tiles to the wall, so there's a few options

- Glue them to the wall

- Put the tiles on a double sided sticker and attach that to the wall

- Use the poster-gum-stuff to attach them to the wall

- Put the tiles on a piece of baseplate and attach that to the wall

I chose for option 4. However I had some small problems. First of all, I ordered a 16x16 grey baseplate which was discolored (and therefore cheap), I then put some bricks on there so I could cut along the correct line (2 6x4 plates are needed and one 6x5). This worked flawlessly, however, the plates are a bit too thick, so what I did was put a lot of bricks on the plate (3 of 4 high) to make a block, and sand it down a bit. Be careful not to sand away too much the first time. This works rather well :) The other options just had too many disadvantages.

Keep in mind: left/right/back is from the perspective of the back of the apartment, and left and right are not the same. (They are mirrored)

Part updates 24 of 40 (Kitchen back wall) and 25 of 40 (Hanging counter)

Right, I didn't have time yesterday, so here's 2 updates. This comes in handy since the next 3 parts will be done tomorrow in one update. (You will see why :) )

First the kitchen back wall, this is where the more serious wall building starts. The clock is not correctly placed since in the movie it is between 2 of the pillars. I'm not sure if these pillars are the correct parts since it looks like they use 1x8 plates for this in the movie (but I could be wrong about that, and at least this works well) The taperecorder.. I have no idea what it represents but in 'the making of'

)

there is a bit of Emmet's apartment without Depth of Field and it is the correct part :D The cooker hood has a 2x2 transparent plate, I don't think it's there in the movie but I like how it looks. (Cooker hood is only available in a darker brown, so keep that in mind for the 2x2 plate connecting it to the wall)

The hanging kitchen cabinets, again, the 1x2x2 lime bricks are not available, I replaced them with 1x2 stacked. Now this is where things get a bit dodgy ;) The 1x2x2 brick exists without a pin, so that the pin from the counter fits inside (LDD doesn't allow this though, bug in their bounding box/collision detection algorithm). The 1x2 brick without pin doesn't exist in lime. I guess you know what I had to do here. (tl;dr break the pin out of 1 1x2 lime brick) Yup, unfortunately a brick was hurt in the making of this apartment :( The good news is that you won't see the incorrect color of the shutters+holders from the front :) The 1x8 plates will stick out to the front and will later be connected to the outer wall.

Part update 23 of 40 (Cupboard)

And Emmet's cupboard, you can see it in the shot where he catches the waffle from his toaster :)

From the making of video I found out that there is a cup on there together with a round 2x2 tile (which represents, well, a plate :D)

I placed a 1x2 plate inside so that I could put a bottle in, but the bottle is too high to fit in :( Aw well.

1x 87087 Brick 1x1 w. 1 stud      - 3 Light Yellow
1x 3032  Plate 4x6                - 1 White
1x 3710  Plate 1x4                - 1 White
2x 3068  Flat tile 2x2            - 1 White
4x 63864 Flat tile 1x3            - 208 Light Stone Grey
3x 3069  Flat tile 1x2            - 208 Light Stone Grey
1x 3070  Flat tile 1x1            - 208 Light Stone Grey
1x 2431  Flat tile 1x4            - 1 White
1x 58176 Globe w. stick           - 297 Warm Gold
1x 85861 Plate 1x1 round w. hole  - 297 Warm Gold

The gold parts do not exist, I replaced them with white (although I considered painting them gold myself), I used a normal door for this at first, but then I saw the movie again and in the scene where Benny is building his spaceship (Spaceship!! Spaceship!!!! SPACESHIP!!!!), there's a door on the floor which is created with flat tiles. I then realized that the door in the kitchen is constructed the same way, it's not a standard lego part but a custom made door :)

Part update 21 of 40 (Wall between TV and door)

Here's the wall between the kitchen door and the TV stand

14 parts
2x 2453  Brick 1x1x5              - 38 Dark Orange
3x 2453  Brick 1x1x5              - 3 Light Yellow
4x 14716 Brick 1x1x3              - 38 Dark Orange
3x 14716 Brick 1x1x3              - 3 Light Yellow
1x 3005  Brick 1x1x1              - 38 Dark Orange
1x 87087 Brick 1x1x1 w. 1 stud    - 38 Dark Orange

The 1x1x3 bricks do not exist for both colors (I'm using Tan and Reddish Brown), so what I did to replace them is order 1x1x1 bricks and stack those on top of each other to create an emulated version of the 1x1x3 brick. There are situations where there are 2 of those bricks stacked on top of each other, which would result in 6 1x1x1 bricks. You can replace that with a 1x1x5 brick and one 1x1x1 brick. (When you're ordering parts to create this, I recommend to get some spares in order to deal with these situations :)) Also, the bricks with studs at top can be put at more places due to this (this helps with keeping the white latches in place)

Intermezzo! Real life update!

So, here it is! I finally received all parts, sorted them into bags per part, and here it is! World's first replica of Emmet's Apartment!

All parts, neatly sorted in bags, per part number (as I released here)

My cat Micah was very curious to see what all the fuss was about :)

And it's done, Emmet yawns since that was a bit how I felt, tired after a lot of building.

Instructions to fit in, have everybody like you, and always be happy!
