Castle in the Sky

Castle in the Sky is another creative film from the mind of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, winning numerous awards world wide.  And it's also one of my favorites. The film captures perfectly the feeling of old adventure tales, mixing in a little bit of magic, ancient advanced technology, pirates, military warlords, and a touch of romance.  What's not to love?

For me, the most recognizable thing about the movie was the guardian-like robots of Laputa, who, at one moment seemed like simple gardeners and caretakers, while at another moment were unstoppable war machines.  This particular model is based on the former - the caretakers - and specifically the robot Pazu and Sheeta first meet upon finally discovering Laputa.  Fully poseable, with different pieces built into the legs than the arms, allowing them to have the same look but with more stability, it would look stunning on any shelf or part of any collection.  Even outside of the movie, this is a unique set that gives warmth and gentleness to robots rather than the cold metal machines that we so often see.

I hope you love it as much as I do!  If you're a Studio Ghibli fan, check out my other projects.  I think you might find something there you like ;)
