Forest Hideout

This hideout in the forest consists of two main parts.

The first part is dedicated to the laboratory of the Enchanter Merlin set up in a cave where he conducts his scientific experiments. The cave is topped by an old tree in which Merlin and the owl Archimedes observe the beauty of the forest.

The second part is an old tower accessible by a bridge that crosses a river. You need to be careful when you cross the bridge because you might fall into the river. One forestman stands guard on the bridge and in the tower to prevent any incursions by scouts from neighbouring kingdoms who want to plunder the treasure carefully hidden under the waterfall of the stone bridge.

These two parts are connected and can be opened or closed as the old sets of LEGO castle. When the set is closed, the whole offers a harmonious coherence and numerous places where Merlin can observe the forest. When the set is open, this allows us to discover the details of the bridge and the secret place behind a wall. Moreover the laboratory and the numerous potions conscientiously prepared by Merlin in front of his stone fireplace can be observed.

I have always been a big fan of LEGO Castle's theme especialy the forestmen sets. I particularly enjoyed building a secret hiding place behind the waterfall where an old chest is hidden. I thought this would make a great complementary LEGO set to more classical constructions as it appeals to LEGO fans who love medieval themes. 

This forest hideout is a tribute to LEGO 6066 from 1987.

Besides Merlin and Archimedes, I also added one spider in the tree, one forestman and one Falcon knight. This courageous Falcon scout is exploring the forest alone because he has heard about an old wizard who is looking for the magical formula to change lead in gold. He wants to steal Merlin's grimoire where all his knowledge is compiled and come back to Falcon Kingdom as a hero to save the King's finance.
