Unlike many other coasters (and LEGO ideas) these are no spill coasters. By no spill I mean that the raised edges prevent condensation from a drink from seeping off the coaster and ruining furniture. These are two different designs, one with rounded edges, and the other without.
I use coasters daily, and I frequently have condensation from a cold cup of water run onto my desk causing a mess. I also enjoy LEGO, so I thought why not combine them into one!
Along with some other LEGO sets, this set has a practical purpose in the average living space.
