Come on in, and pull yourself up a chair (like Chairry!)
Let me introduce Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, a LEGO recreation of the iconic Saturday-morning kid’s show with oodles of characters, references and details.
The Playhouse includes three iconic rooms: Living Room, Bedroom & Kitchen. Hinge points allow the Playhouse to fold out offering more room for play and revealing extra details and hidden characters (Floory!).
Pee-Wee can make video calls on his very own Picture Phone, check on the Refrigerator Food, get a wish from Jambi, and when it’s time to leave he can rely on his trusty Scooter.
This set features 6 minifigures including some of Pee-Wee’s human friends. Who will be stopping by the Playhouse today?
- Pee-Wee Herman
- Miss Yvonne
- Cowboy Curtis
- King of Cartoons
- Reba the Mail Lady
- Ricardo
Of course, it also includes many of his brick-built puppet friends:
- Chairry
- Pterri
- Conky 2000 (with the Word of the Day!)
- Magic Screen
- Mr. Kite
- Mr. Window
- Globey
- Dog Chair
The late-great Paul Reubens’ Pee-Wee, much like LEGO, offers a world limited only by our imaginations, making it a perfect mash-up. Some of my most formative and vivid childhood memories are sitting down on my living room floor on a Saturday morning with my bin of LEGO and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse on TV. While designing the Playhouse, I tried my best to be faithful to the source material but I also allowed myself some creative license to fill in some details (afterall, the original Playhouse was a TV-set and not an actual house). The world of Pee Wee is silly and colorful making this a very fun project to work on. I stuffed references in every corner and filled the Playhouse with fun objects. (Can you find all the references?) Recreating the Playhouse in LEGO is a childhood dream that finally came true (Thanks Jambi!).
