“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.”
J.R.R Tolkien, The Hobbit
Welcome to my first LEGO Ideas project, a replica of Bag End, the comfortable hobbit-hole of Bilbo Baggins, made out of LEGO bricks. Since I didn't buy the LEGO Set 79003 at the time, I always hoped that there would be another set of this kind and finally decided to build it myself.
When you look inside the hobbit-hole, you'll find a detailed interior, including a pantry, Bilbo's study, a bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen including a dining table and the parlor. To reveal these rooms, you can remove the roof and dive into your own story. Outside, there are two benches, a birdhouse, stairs leading to the green door, the path passing Bag End and the fence next to it.
This model consists of 2991 parts and includes two minifigures, Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf.
On the one hand, this set is suitable for children to play but can also impress as an exhibition piece.
Since there will also be a new Lord of the Rings series at the end of 2021, I don't think there would be a better time for such a set.
