Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We had a request yesterday for a LEGO National Park vignette featuring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Located on the Big Island in Hawaii, the amazing park preserves a highly volcanic and very beautiful natural wonder of the world. This vignette depicts one of the many must see locations in the park, a location where the lava flow ran across the road on its trip to the ocean.
As always, I am overwhelmed by the amount of support this idea has generated. Keep sharing this site as much as you can and we will be at 10,000 supporters in no time. If you have any suggestions for future vignettes please share them in the comments section!
Death Valley National Park
It has been a while since we have featured a new National Park Service LEGO Vignette idea. At 3.3 million acres, Death Valley National Park is the largest park outside of Alaska. One of the highlights, and sometimes difficult places to get to, is the Racetrack Playa. Here, rocks move across the valley floor leaving a trail behind them. The mystery of why and how the rocks move has never fully been solved. This vignette is a very simple depiction of this very cool place. With this vignette, I have six designs featuring different NPS sites. Keep suggesting ideas and I will continue to upload new vignettes from time to time.
Once again I want to thank all of the supporters of this set. We are slowly but surely making our way to 10,000 supporters. The set will need a lot of help to get there, so please continue to share it as much as possible.
I would also appreciate support for my new set Wonder Woman to the Rescue which can be found at: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/104050
LEGO Ranger on Tour
This week I had the opportunity to take photos of one of the LEGO Park Ranger in actual National Parks. I will totally admit to being inspired by one of the Legal Justice Team's great updates. Pictured here is the LEGO Park Ranger visiting the great Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Steamtown is a railroad roundhouse with a staggering collection of different trains. It is well worth the trip if you find yourself in Pennsylvania.
500 Days
There was an interesting change to LEGO Ideas recently. New rules now give projects up to two years to gain 10,000 supporters. After 1000 supporters you get an additional six months, then another six months after 5000. As of today, the National Park Service Centennial Vignettes set has 500 days left. When we make it to 5000 that will be upped by 180 days. With 4375 supporters as of this afternoon, we need roughly 8 supporters a day to make the goal of 10,000 (although we would miss the National Park Service centennial all together if we took the full 680 days). Keep spreading the word, we still have a long way to go!
Olive Green Pants
In an attempt to update this set using available pieces, I recently found dark green pants for the Park Rangers. These more closely match the olive green pants that are part of the National Park Service Park Ranger uniform. The shirt still needs work. The current shirt was an available coast Guard shirt, the only LEGO shirt that was grey with a badge and belt. I think the new pants work pretty well and are a great improvement. What do you think?
Once again, thank you very much for all the support. We are now the 21st most supported active project on LEGO Ideas. That is pretty impressive! Keep spreading the word and we will make it to 10,000 in no time! And keep the suggestions and requests coming. It is great to hear about the National Parks that people love the most. I will have another Vignette design when we finally make it to 4500 supporters.
Rangers in Their Natural Habitat
With three different Vignettes included in this set, the possibilities are endless for National Park adventures. Sometimes you may even catch the Park Rangers in their natural habitat. Keep spreading the word and supporting this project. We are closer, but still a long way from 10,000!
National Park Service Centennial Vignettes Facebook Page
For those interested, I have now started a Facebook page dedicated to the National Park Service Centennial Vignettes LEGO Ideas project. Here I will be offering updates and hoping to inspire support as we move towards 10,000 supporters. The address is: https://www.facebook.com/NPSCentennialLEGO
Thank you again for spreading the word, sharing this project, and inspiring everyone you know to support this project. So far it has been a great run! let's keep the momentum going!
