JU 52 Iron Annie

HELLO THERE! ・ω・`) fellow aircraft and LEGO enthusiasts!

This is my attempt of recreating the famous full metal plane, JU 52 in LEGO.

HISTORY

The Junkers Ju 52/3m (nicknamed Tante Ju (Aunt Ju or Iron Annie) was a German transport aircraft manufactured from 1931 to 1952 developed by Hugo Junkers. It was the first of its kind and therefore played a key role in aviation history

The Ju 52 continued service into the 1980s. The aircraft has continued to be used well beyond that date for purposes such as sightseeing.

DESIGN

The fuselage was formed from duralumin spars with a corrugated surface that provided torsional stiffening. A port-side passenger door was placed just aft of the wings, with windows stretching forward to the pilots' cockpit. The main undercarriage was fixed and divided; some aircraft had wheel fairings, others did not. A fixed tailskid, or a later tailwheel, was used. Some aircraft were fitted with floats or skis instead of the main wheels.

This model was inspired by the Lufthansa JU 52 D-AQUI.

FEATURES

  • Opening doors
  • Removable roof
  • Working rudders and flaps
  • Turning propellers
  • Turning wheels

I hope I could awake some interest with this model and maybe one day by the help of your support we can grab one these of the shelves of a Lego store. (^-^)
