This is my custom skyline of my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, USA. It was made in the same vein as the other sets in the Architecture Skyline series, but this one focuses on a much lesser-known, but still fantastic, city. I have included a number of icons of Omaha, starting from left to right:
- On the far left, the white structure is the Woodmen Tower, Omaha's first true skyscraper and a necessity in any Omaha skyline.
- Next to it, the transparent blue and white building is the still-under-construction Mutual of Omaha Tower. While it is still unknown what it will look like in the end, there are several renderings and a confirmation that it will be the tallest building in Nebraska.
- In front of the Mutual of Omaha Tower lies the Gene Leahy Mall and the Riverfront. A wonderful park right in front of the Missouri River, this location has become a staple of Downtown Omaha.
- The gray building to the right of the Gene Leahy Mall is the First National Bank Tower. Currently the tallest building in the state (until the Mutual of Omaha Tower is complete), this tower has dominated the Omaha skyline for years.
- The dark red structures represent the Old Market, a throwback to Omaha's rich history. Now, most of the buildings shops and restaurants, and are valued by Omahans and tourists alike.
- Behind the Old Market are two with columns, which is the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. It is a mile-long bridge over the Missouri River which connects Iowa and Nebraska.
- Finally, at the far right of the build is the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. Widely ranked as one of the best zoos in the country, the Omaha Zoo features many unique creatures and buildings, such as the Desert Dome, the world's largest indoor desert.
That is a general rundown of my set. I hope you, like me, love Omaha and would like to see this set become a reality!
