Version 2.0 - The Build (Part IV)

Hi fan,s

I am pleased to bring you more work on my Howl's Moving Castle project.  Shelling and greebling are in full effect.  You'll notice several tan modified bricks with dark red 1x1x2/3 slopes and trans clear plates--these represent small build-outs scattered all over the Moving Castle, and reflect the haphazardness with which Howl's castle had congealed.

Hope you like the effect.

Some detailing of the blast furnaces in the rear.  Much more to come.

Enjoy,

Version 2.0 - The Build (Part III)

Hi fans,

As promised, here is an update where you can see the first touches of shelling and greebling.  The Moving Castle gets a face!  I still may play around with the colors of some parts, but this is more or less the look & feel.

Does it remind you of something you've seen before?  Perhaps from this sketch below, which I uploaded a couple weeks ago as an announcement of Version 2.0...  Now you can see I was providing a little peek at some of the elements I would eventually use to represent the eyes of the Castle.

Hope you enjoy

Version 2.0 - The Build (Part II)

Hi fans,

My studio was hard at work again last night, and I am pleased to provide another update to you.  I have installed the first of several moving mechanisms--this one ties in the lower jaw and two blast furnaces (to-be) in the back. The lower jaw is visible on the bottom left.  Most of the structural framework is complete, but there will still be a larger bulky build atop.

In my next update, keep an eye out for some much anticipated greebling and the first plates of the shell :)

Version 2.0 - The Build

Hi fans,

I am very excited.  Construction began last night on my Howl's Moving Castle v2.0, and I am happy to share with you my progress.  I hope to provide frequent updates to you, so you can enjoy the experience with me (as well as grab some behind the scenes peeks at my unusual building techniques).

Here you can see a portion of the interior frame of the model, which will become integral to the structural rigidity of the model, as well as provide an anchor from which to apply the shell, greebling, and other aesthetics later on.

Stay tuned, and please support & share with your Studio Ghibli- and LEGO-loving friends!

Update on Version 2.0

Hi fans,

Gears are turning over at the studio where LEGO Howl's Moving Castle was born.  I have rummaged through about 2 dozen personal sets looking for parts, placed 7 orders on BrickLink, and even revisited my childhood collection to gather some parts I need for the building of Howl's Moving Castle.  The current design (Version 2.0) enlists 833 parts total.  I hope to begin building sometime mid-week, and will be sure to keep you updated.  I hope to have a teaser shot of the design to show you later this week.

Thanks for reading!

Some parts to be assembled into Version 2.0 later this week

Howl's Moving Castle Surpasses 500 Supporters!

Hello fellow fans of LEGO and Howl's Moving Castle!

I'd like to thank you all for your recent outburst of support for my project.  Due to the new site making it impossible to edit my original submission, I currently have a support counter on the front page that is in limbo--stuck at "500 supporters: ???"  Well, we whizzed by that goal over the weekend, and are well on our way to 600 supporters!

I suppose I will have to abandon my detailed support counter, so that I don't fill the project's updates tab with numerical updates.  Hope to catch you on the other side of 1,000 soon!  If we make it, I will show you what this baby looks like in real life (the current images are all renderings)!  Thanks, and keep sharing :)

Title Added to Cover Image!

The title has been added to the cover image to help viewers identify the project more easily.  After all, the scale of the design is too small to include Calcifer, the iconic fire demon!  Enjoy :)
