"Sam came to the gaping mouth and peered in. It was dark and hot, and a deep rumbling shook the air. 'Frodo! Master!' he called. There was no answer. For a moment he stood, with his heart beating with wild fears, and then he plunged in. A shadow followed him."
This project is a recreation of the scene in the film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in which Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee have reached their final destination in their long and perilous journey: Mount Doom. It is here that they must cast the powerful and treacherous Ring of Power forged by the Dark Lord Sauron into the very Cracks of Doom where it was wrought. But the One Ring has a will of its own, and their former (and not entirely trust-worthy) guide Gollum has followed them all the way through Mordor to take his "precious", the Ring, back. The project includes the walkway of Sammath Naur with lava, some stony mountain terrain, two back plates, a rock for Gollum and the Great Eagle, Gwaihir. The Minifigures include Frodo with dirty face, Sam with dirty face and Gollum.
I hope that this will become a set one day, for it is a very key moment in the LOTR trilogy, and the line of Lord of the Rings LEGO sets will never be truly complete without it. The features in this project I think would make a great LEGO set for all ages. It has a stud in the lava for you to put the Ring on and destroy it, it has a piece at the edge for Frodo to hold on to, and you can use the back plates for Gwaihir to rescue Frodo and Sam from the fire, or even put your own Gandalf the White Minfigure on top of Gwaihir. I believe that the price for this would be around $50-60. If you enjoy The Lord of the Rings then please support and share this project with others who do as well. Thank you for your time and farewell!
"For the quest is achieved, and now all is over. I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things, Sam."
