Based on my previous submission ("DNA double helix"), this is a representation of a quadruple helix form. There are 30 tiers/levels which allows just over one full revolution of the four helixes. The model consists of 360 transparent blue round bricks, 120 grey brick with hole, and 30 white brick with 4 studs, plus the base and supporting pieces.
I was interested to investigate if it was possible to create four helixes together (like the double helix model) and see what it would look like. Also I wanted to make the sculpture more visually appealing by using transparent blue round bricks, so that it would look really cool when illuminated.
This would make a great Lego model because: its fun and challenging to assemble; when you get this assembled there really is a 'wow' moment; the quad helix is a more rigid design (compared to the double helix); its a very attractive form and makes a great decorative piece; it would look great on a rotating/illuminated base; its of interest to anyone fascinated by helixes or the structure of DNA; the pieces can be packaged into a small box.
