The Son of Man

This is a classic art piece by René Magritte titled 'The Son of Man (1964)'. This set would go well with existing lego art pieces based on size and composition of build.

I personally identify with this art piece because I've found myself easily distracted by what was right in front of me, often missing out on the amazing world beyond. The world is such an colorful vibrant place if we just step out from behind the things that distract us.

René Magritte is quoted as saying, "There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us." Looking from the other sude of the apple he easily defines the interest of seeing a persons face and how the expressions are lost behind the apple. The painting clearly expresses that standing face to face, our curiosity of "who is this person", is interesting and seductive. The surrealist painter gives so much insight in reguard to our depth of perception being blocked by things right infront of our face and the allure the unknown can create.

As LEGO builders and designers, we often get lost in trying to capture the latest and greatest of our social enviornments, and we can easily overlook that which is right infront of our faces and what we over look is our own imagination to create a new work of art free from influences other than how we are as artist.

The piece count for this set comes in at just about 2100 pcs and it measures 52 stud x 68 stud with the frame work.
